Do you know what your purpose is?

If I had a purpose, it would be to write, as a professor in the graduate
program in rhetoric I was in once would say, to know what I think – frightening and
incomprehensible as that may be. I expect – because I always expect – a great deal of my
writing to be humor although you probably won’t read
it that way. But read on.
